  Exercise 3 - Air Experience Page 6
Aim:- To Introduce the student to rotary-wing flight

The air experience flight, often referred to the ‘Trial Lesson’ normally lasts between thirty minutes to an hour and is intended to allow the student to experience helicopter flight.

Only a brief explanation of the effects of the controls together with a short period of ‘hands on’ need be given in order for the student to appreciate the sensitivity and responsiveness of the aircraft.

It is worth remembering that this may be the first time the student has come into close contact with light aircraft and the prospect of actually flying one may seem quite daunting. It is important therefore to allow the student to become relaxed and acclimatised. Use the first five to ten minutes of the flight to point out local land marks, the layout of the airfield, etc before any ‘hands on’ is given.
